President Designates Fentanyl as a Weapon of Mass Destruction

President Signs Documents
Under the new executive order, stricter measures to crack down on the sale of illegal fentanyl will be put into place.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week that designates the drug fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. The president cited that fentanyl has caused more damage and destruction to American families than the deaths caused by many wars.

The order stated, “The manufacture and distribution of fentanyl, primarily performed by organized criminal networks threatens our national security and fuels lawlessness in our hemisphere and at our borders.”

As a result of this order, Attorney General Pam Bondi will immediately look at investigating and prosecuting fentanyl trafficking. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will pursue appropriate actions against assets and financial institutions that are connected to the support of manufacturing, distribution, and sale of illegal fentanyl.

President Trump said, “I’m taking one more step to protect Americans from the scourge of deadly fentanyl flooding into our country with this historic executive order. No bomb does what this [drug] is doing.”
